About Cherokee Turner
I’m Cherokee Turner a filmmaker, photographer, and editor rooted in rhythm, emotion, and the pursuit of beautiful imagery. For over a decade, I’ve been telling stories with light and sound, using my lens to explore the human experience through music videos, short films, branded content, and beyond.
Visual storytelling is my language. Whether I’m framing a quiet moment in natural light or building an edit that pulses with a track’s tempo, my goal is to evoke feeling. I don’t just shoot scenes I build experiences.
My creative process is instinctive and collaborative. I thrive in the space where concept meets improvisation, and where preparation gives way to spontaneity. I’m drawn to artists and brands who value honesty and originality those who want to say something with soul.
I’ve had the honor of working with musicians, creators, and companies who trust me to bring their stories to life. Each project is personal. Every frame is intentional.
When I’m not behind the camera or in the editing suite, you’ll probably find me exploring light in other ways writing, experimenting with analog film, or digging into music that challenges and inspires me.
If you’re looking to create something cinematic, grounded, and unforgettable I’d love to collaborate.
Let’s make something that moves people.
Where it Began
From 2008 to 2014, Cherokee Turner studied TV broadcasting, film, and business in Springfield, Missouri. During this time, he developed a deep interest in visual effects and became highly proficient in tools like Adobe After Effects and 3DS Max. Recognizing a gap in accessible, beginner-friendly VFX education, he launched the YouTube channel TutorialGrid a platform dedicated to demystifying complex visual effects and explaining not just how they work, but why they work, with a clear and practical teaching style.
Creating a Legacy
During this time, Cherokee collaborated with the emerging YouTube channel MikeNGary, contributing as a director, writer, and producer on several viral videos now collectively amassing nearly 60 million views. Notable projects include Pokémon Cemetery, Half-Life: Portal to Black Mesa, Minecraft: Worlds Collide, Nintendo vs. Zombies, and How to Become a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (TMNT). These videos gained widespread attention, landing features on the front pages of Coca-Cola, Kotaku, and Polygon, and leading to brand partnerships, including collaborations with Nintendo.
Creating a Studio
After graduating college Cherokee knew the next step had to be creating a studio. After moving to Nixa Missouri he found 2500 Sqft of space he could call his own. This space would create commercial and film content for several brands and film makers in the local area. The space housed a vocal isolation recording booth. This booth helped with ADR work as well as produced several audiobooks Produced and Directed by Cherokee with the help of another audio Engineer. During this time the studio would Create and Produce live events in other states as well as provide video/live streaming services for several clients.
Switching Gears
Cherokee would soon move to Little Rock Arkansas after receiving an offer he couldn’t refuse. He currently is working out of a satellite office creating videos for the National guard. During this time his first film “Thuderdome Doc” was bought and housed on Amazon prime. Cherokee’s work can been seen on Netflix, Disney, and several other services either with the use of his Light artifacts pack as well as VFX work produced. Cherokee is always looking to for that next project. So feel free to contact if you have a project you may need help with.
